Gtechniq C5 Wheel Armour with the prep gear the application calls for. A hard ceramic layer on the rim means brake dust sits on the surface instead of baking into it, so wheels rinse clean instead of needing a scrub every time.
30ml does the inside and outside of a full set up to 20 inch.
Kit or just the bottle?
The difference between this and the C5 coating on its own is the prep gear: 500ml of prep spray, a pair of applicator pads, a plush cloth and four take-off microfibres, which is everything the instructions below call for. If you already have prep spray and clean microfibres on the shelf, buy the bottle and save the difference.
What is in it
- 1 x Gtechniq C5 Wheel Armour Coating, 30ml
- 2 x Gtechniq applicator pads, the round white foam ones
- 1 x Plush Cloth
- 4 x yellow coating take-off microfibres
- 1 x Prep Spray, 500ml
Before you start
- Wheels have to be properly clean and completely dry. A coating bonds to whatever is on the surface, so if there is brake dust left, that is what it bonds to. WHEEL and the wheel brushes do that part.
- Work indoors, well ventilated, above 5°C.
- Shake well and wear gloves.
- Be careful over smart repairs. Prep spray can strip that kind of paintwork.
How to apply it
- Wipe each wheel down with prep spray on the plush cloth. This is what gives you the bond.
- Put several drops of C5 on a pad and spread it over the rim, no more than half a wheel at a time.
- Buff the residue off within 30 to 60 seconds with a yellow take-off microfibre.
- Repeat on each wheel, half at a time.
- Leave the car indoors for 12 hours before it sees weather.
Good to know
- Two pads are in the box because once a coating has cured into one it is finished. Start the second one rather than fighting a pad that has gone hard.
- Getting the wheels off the car makes this a far better job. Coating the barrels properly is most of the benefit.
- Suitable for gloss, satin and matte rim finishes. Fine on chrome, but not on polished metals.
- Store in a cool, dry place and use within 3 months of opening.
