Gtechniq Exov5 Hydrophobic Coating Kit (30ml/50ml) Up To 2 Years Durability

EXOv5 with the prep gear the application calls for. It is a hydrophobic top layer: it is what makes water bead up and fly off the car, and it is what people are actually looking at when they say a coating still looks new.

Is this the right coating for you?

EXOv5 is a top layer, not a base coat. It goes over Crystal Serum Light for water behaviour and gloss, or on its own as a shorter lived standalone coating. If you are starting from bare paint and want one job that lasts, start with CSL, and the Crystal Serum Light Kit is the one most people want. Buy this kit if the car already has a coating you are topping up, or you want the hydrophobic layer over a fresh CSL install.

Kit or just the bottle?

The difference between this and EXOv5 on its own is the prep gear: 500ml of prep spray, the applicator, a plush cloth and six take-off microfibres. If you already have prep spray and clean microfibres, buy the bottle.

What is in it

• 1 x Gtechniq EXOv5 Hydrophobic Coating (30ml or 50ml)
• 1 x Microfibre Coating Applicator
• 1 x Plush Paint Cloth
• 6 x yellow coating take-off microfibres
• 1 x Prep Spray, 500ml

Before you start

• Out of direct sunlight, but warmer than 10°C. EXOv5 needs a warmer floor than CSL does.
• The car must be completely dry, and stay dry for at least 12 hours afterwards.
• We recommend a CSL base coat under it on dark and easy to mark paints.
• Shake well and wear gloves.

How to apply it

1. Wipe every surface down with prep spray on the plush paint cloth. Spray the cloth, not the panel. If you are going over newly applied CSL, skip this step.
2. Prime the applicator evenly with enough product that the pad is damp.
3. Apply in overlapping strokes to a small panel, or half a large one.
4. Wait 1 to 2 minutes, then buff with a yellow take-off microfibre, followed by a second one to clear any smearing. The surface should feel slick.
5. One layer only. Unlike the version it replaced, you do not go around the car a second time.
6. Going over fresh CSL? Start in the same place on the car that you started the CSL.

Good to know

• Keep it off plastic trims, rubbers and hard plastics such as headlights and tail lights.
• Let it cure at least 12 hours before it gets wet, and leave the car unwashed for the first week.
• Store in a cool, dry place and use within 3 months of opening.
